Week 6

This week I have made a start on setting up my science experiment and I think I will be well into it, for the weekend  and week 7. I am doing a test to see if the colored light has an effect on plant growth and I have set up my test using colored fizzy drink bottles with small plants growing inside them. I have started my hypothesis and I am almost ready to send it to my teacher so she can give me some feedback.

This week I did a lot on ratio and I have now learned how I can solve problems and use ratio in their simplest form. As well as that this week I have decided what book I am going to use for my book review. It has to be one that we read this year so I decided to do one of my most recently read book. I am going to write a book review on ''Allies And Assasins''. I chose this book because it has one main character with lots and lots of characteristics and I hope to gain a little knowledge about the character analysis from this story.

At extension art this week I did a lot of the leaves on my trees and I have learned how to use a painting sponge and I hope that my art teacher will give me an extra lesson next week so I can finish it.

Week 5

This week was quite a distracting week for me as on Monday and Tuesday we had Mr Mcabe watch and monitor us while we worked. It gave everyone a chance to catch up on work and not need to go down to the floor every second minute. Mrs Crowe was away on a maths course for the first two days of last work so I hope that she has some good new learning to share with me and my class mates.

We had a few pieces of work due at Wednesday lunch time but I was away on Wednesday because of my throat. I finished off the work at home and handed it in strait away Thursday morning. I finished both my reading and writing tasks to the best of my ability and I believe that I stuck to the learning intention the whole time I did that work. In the three days that I was at school I had to do a lot of math and I have finally learned how to do ratios.

We had one session a science this week because of the teachers only day on Friday and we have continued to build our marble run and we will have another lesson next week to finish it all off.

Week 4

This week was quite exciting and also very tiring. We are doing a piece of report writing about a certain animal and I chose to have my topic as Meerkats. I have got heaps and heaps of information and I am trying to manage to fit at least the important stuff onto the page. I have learned tons of stuff about Meerkats and I can not wait to share my report with my classmates and teacher.

Later on in week 9 of this term we have a science fair and I have decided on my topic. I will be doing an experiment to find out what is the effect of colored light on plant growth. I have done lots of research and I am ready to start on my hypothesis and to start experimenting. I think I will have to start with my experimenting pretty soon because it involves growing stuff and I don't want to only have half an experiment for the science fair.

On Thursday this week I went to wims football as a reporter to both write about and take pictures of the two teams playing. Both teams played their hardest and achieved well.

week 3

This week I took part in the Te Awamutu intermediate music camp. Students from Cambridge and matamata intermediates came and took part in the festival as well as us. I play the trumpet and there were a lot of good tutors that helped me and all the other participants prepare for the concert that was held on Thursday night in the T.A.I  A.L.C. I learned how to play about a dozen pieces such as Bynip Blues, A Children's Christmas Carol, Hard Rock Blues and lots more.

Here is a picture of a trumpet for all those that do not know what it looks like.

Trumpets are played with combinations of the three different valves and blows.

As well as the music that last week was full of we also had our first 2 science lessons and we learned about P.O.E.W (predict, observe, explain and what if). We had to test what would happen when we lit a scharboughafair tea bag on fire with a lighter.

Week 2

Tech
On Tuesday at wood work, I learned how to put filler into wood. I used a scraper to push the filled into the gaps in my truck.I also learned how to drill holes free handed.By the end of the Thursday lesson I had unfortunately not finished my truck so hopefully Mr.Grahm will give me a lesson or two to help me finish.
Next week I will have science as my tech art.

I have done some descriptive writing lately and I believe that I did quite well as I got some very positive feedback from my pairs. I also did a geometry test and I know that I have improved majorly since the start of this year.

As a class this week, we had a session learning lacrosse and after learning how to throw and catch we had a few games. I learned how to pass to a person and catch with a stick. I played a fun game and afew relays and I hope that I will soon get another session sometime soon.

Term 2 week 1

This week I learned to find the unknown angle in any polygon. I also decided to do an experiment on what happens to plants in low levels of sunlight as my science fair project. I have started to research info  for what  I think will happen before I start doing my testing.I will test It in different levels of light with each and all of the plants. I will try my best with variables and I will monitor all my plants very closely and take care with all of them. I also learned to about some things at camp.

Here are some photos from camp at the narrows.
